Assessment and Influencing Factors of Ecological Quality in Chongqing

    • In order to explore the ecological quality status of Chongqing from 2015 to 2024,an ecological quality evaluation system was constructed.Using spatial autocorrelation and geographical detector methods,a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the spatiotemporal variation characteristics and influencing factors of ecological quality in Chongqing over a long time series. The results showed that from 2015 to 2024,the Ecological Quality Index (EQI) of Chongqing remained stable at "Category II",reaching its highest value in 2024.The EQI of districts and counties was mainly "Category II" across years, with overall stable and positive changes. The results of global spatial autocorrelation showed that the EQI exhibited spatial correlation. The results of local spatial autocorrelation showed a high-high clustering effect in northeastern Chongqing and a low-low clustering effect in the main urban area.Factor detection results indicated that the ecological land area ratio index, land development interference index, and habitat quality index had the highest influence in 2015 and 2024,while the water network density index and soil and water conservation index had the lowest explanatory power. After interaction detection, the explanatory power of each factor was enhanced.
