Analysis of Ecological Quality Trends and Driving Factors in Jiangsu Province from 2020 to 2024

Abstract
To scientifically and accurately assess the ecological quality and facilitate regional ecological conservation and restoration, taking Jiangsu as the research area, using multi-source data including satellite remote sensing and biodiversity surveys, this study applied the Trial Measures for Regional Eco-environmental Quality Evaluation to evaluate the ecological quality of Jiangsu Province from 2020 to 2024.Trends and driving factors were analyzed across four dimensions:ecological pattern, ecological function, biodiversity, and ecological stress. The results showed that:① From 2020 to 2024,the Ecological Quality Index (EQI) of Jiangsu Province maintained "Class II",with an annual change range of "basically stable".Constrained by factors such as a low proportion of natural ecosystem coverage and a high intensity of territorial space development, the ecological pattern indicators and ecological stress indicators of Jiangsu Province need to be optimized.②Provincial ecological dynamics were driven by multiple interacting factors, including construction land expansion, ecological land reduction, urban park green space increase, biodiversity index improvement, and interannual vegetation coverage fluctuation.③Stabilizing the ecological pattern and ecological stress, and improving ecological functions and biodiversity are the keys to further stabilizing and enhancing the ecological quality of Jiangsu Province.
